Clearly it has been a priority to establish a copy protection scheme which also works once the project is compiled and running with the Matlab runtime environment (MCR). I am happy to say Taurus can do all this unlike other exe wrapper protection programs
I have tried. The alternative was to use a C based implementation which can access the API of embedded protection systems. But this is unnecessarily complicated.

Third party programs for implementing copy protection features into MS Windows applications are indeed very common, but Taurus works directly in the MATLAB environment, thus making it independent of the computer’s operating system. While MATLAB allows you to hide the details of your proprietary code through p-files or deployed code, it alone does not provide any direct means for limiting the distribution of your applications. Taurus takes care of this using a password or a range of very efficient license check copy protection mechanisms. Whether it is stand-alone or MATLAB workspace based, your application or function can only be run by licensed users. And those users will not even notice the presence of a copy protection! In this sense, Taurus is the first software ever to facilitate copy protection and licensing of mathematical algorithms.
